Belledune appreciates the importance of maintaining a policy of adhering to sound environmental principles, and accordingly, makes every effort to ensure business and tourism related industries follow government provided guidelines.

Belledune has a Municipal Plan and Zoning By-laws which are administered by a Regional Planning Commission. Belledune, and in particular the activities relating to the port of Belledune currently receive marketing and promotional services and consultations from the Chaleur Regional Development Commission Inc. located in Bathurst.

Belledune presently provides garbage pick-up for it's citizens and recovers the cost through the local tax rate (one of the lowest property tax rates in New Brunswick). Belledune is a member of the Nepisiguit Chaleur Solid Waste Commission and waste disposal for the area is at the Red Pine environmentally sound, state-of-the-art regional solid waste management facility outside of Allardville.

The Belledune Regional Planning Commission is responsible for the administration and development of the Industrial Park.
